Today I launched my first compilation of time-lapse videos of a recent painting commission. We shall see how this YouTube thing goes. I am hoping for a little exposure, but more hoping to inspire some people to make art. A lot of people that I show this footage to call me "Bob Ross" and I admit that I absolutely adored watching his techniques growing up! He lived by "The Joy of Art" and I intend to bring that back as best as I can.
There is a lot of snobbery in art that I hope to abolish during my time as a fine artist. "A master never reveals his secrets" is probably the biggest load of selfish crock to befall this hobby. A true master has an apprentice. Someone who has taken their personal exploration of a discipline and is able to translate that into a learn-able format is a true master, not just a genius. It isn't the outcome that we should be craving, but rather the process that holds most of the reward, because within process the greatest amount of growing happens.
